‘A day in the life of’ Michael Williamson, Sales Manager

How long have you been with Fidelis?

I am very new to Fidelis and have been here for just 5 months – this is my first role within the commercial cleaning and facilities management industry.

Describe your role in one sentence

I am a sales manager looking to build and develop relationships with both new and existing customers.

Why did you feel Fidelis was the right place for you?

Our MD has been a Mentor to me on a personal level for around 6 years inspiring me to outperform my self-belief. If this is offered from an external prospective, I know the whole team is based on its people allowing me to grow personally and within the business.

How do Fidelis compare to previous roles?

From the moment I started at Fidelis, I was introduced to the book corner (personal development) and whenever I have an issue there is usually a book for that. It’s a great way to learn. The process of one to one is also focussed and for once in my life I have been asked what I actually want from the role.

What does a typical day look like for you?

Each day is different. We can be with a prospect doing introductions, surveys or presentations which tends to keep us very busy. We are also responsible for reporting figures and pipeline. Between Charlotte and myself, we work great as a team when bringing together our survey notes to a quotation and from a quotation to a presentation.

What is the most challenging element of your role?

Being very new it was understanding the systems and processes. With a strap line of “the difference is us” I now understand we are just different from top to bottom.

What is the most enjoyable part of your job?

Working with a great enthusiastic team that can celebrate each success together.

Do you think that Fidelis and your current role has enhanced your personal development? If so, how?

Most definitely, as previously stated Fidelis are huge on Personal Development along with setting and achieving goals. A real breath of fresh air.

How would you describe Fidelis to a friend?

A great company who treat its people like their customers.
