We caught up with Business Development Manager, Blake Heys, to discover how his first few months in the job have been going.
When Blake Heys joined Fidelis last November, he was excited to meet new people, develop strong relationships and contribute to the company’s ongoing success. “Here’s to new challenges and opportunities ahead,” he wrote on a LinkedIn post which garnered dozens of well wishes and endorsements. While a quarter of a year isn’t a long time, we wanted to catch up with Blake to find out whether his hopes have been realised. We’ll let him tell the story so far…
A people business at heart
“Three months into my journey at Fidelis Group, one thing is clear: this is a business that moves at pace, and a sector where relationships, trust and visibility genuinely matter. In that time, I’ve built new relationships with both new and existing clients, spending valuable time face-to-face in meetings, on sites and around the table discussing real, operational challenges. Facilities management is a people business at heart and those in-person conversations, whether in boardrooms, plant rooms or reception areas, have been key to understanding what truly matters to our clients day to day.
“The first quarter has involved around 6,000 miles on the road, five hotels across three counties, and more early starts than I can count, but that’s the reality of a field-based sales role in FM - being present, being visible and seeing first-hand how services are delivered on the ground. Every site visit adds context that no spreadsheet ever could.
“Alongside client engagement, I’ve had the opportunity to attend senior management meetings, gaining a clear insight into the strategic direction of the business and the collaborative approach that underpins it. It’s been refreshing to see how closely strategy, operations and client outcomes are aligned.”
A genuinely energising experience
“Of course, it hasn’t all been motorways and meeting rooms. A brilliant Christmas party, a competitive Secret Santa and plenty of informal conversations along the way have helped me quickly feel part of the wider REACT Group team, which is just as important in a role built on collaboration and shared success.
“The pace has been high, the learning curve steep and the experience genuinely energising. I’m proud of what’s been achieved in the first three months and excited about what’s ahead as we continue to strengthen partnerships, identify new opportunities, and deliver real value for clients in a demanding and fast-moving sector.
“The journey is well underway — and this feels like just the beginning.”
